  • It is Unique.

    It is Unique.

It is one of a kind. No other community in the United States is known by the name "ALVO". Early settlers had come to this area as early as 1869, they had established post-offices, school district and towns. The railroad was the main means of transportation , so towns were established along it's lines.

Alvo reportedly received its name from the first child born after the community began to form around the depot. Her name was Alvo and she was the daughter of the railroad's master.

This notice is directed toward those who flushed their shop towels, baby wipes and other non-degradable items down their toilets - the Village replaced two pumps at the sewage lagoon to the tune of $10,000 for the pumps and $6,000 for installation.

Nebraska's moisture situation

The worse news is 1 county is normal to abnormally dry, 2 are abnormally dry, 5 are normal to abnormally dry to moderate drought, 2 are abnormally dry to moderate drought, 1 is in moderate drought, 1 is abnormally dry, moderate and severe drought, and 1 is moderate and severe drought - which means these thirteen counties in southeast Nebraska are getting worse. Cass County still has normal moisture level.

Nationally, only 9 states (which is unchanged from last week)  - Connecticut, Deleware, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia have normal moisture levels. Puerto Rico, Hawaii and Alaska are drying out. That is why the wildfires are killing people and animals and destroying vegetation and buildings throughout much of southwest and northwest US.

"It is no wonder that the veterans shout and curse. It is also not surprising that many of them no longer feel attached to this country as their home. They have not forsaken us; they feel that we have forsaken them. I want to add my voice to their shouts and curses. The Vietnam War cannot be over for us until we redeem our commitment to the men who accepted these risks of war.

Peace has become hell for hundreds of thousands of Vietnam veterans. We can change that if we will only pledge not to forget those brave men and to commit ourselves to welcoming them into our places of work, our homes, and our society, as full-fledged American heroes with a special claim on our love and gratitude." - Daniel Inouye
