Attend a stage play or musical at the Lofte Community Theatre - the Born in A Barn Players give the audiences some outstanding performances that are funny, hilarious, enjoyable, heart-breaking and may even make you think about life a bit differently.
We attended the Dixie Swim Club production, which if it was a movie would be a "Chick Flick" but I got the message. I am a pretty cynical guy (and old) but these five women made their characters and their relationships real - and they made it happen live, without retakes or teleprompters. That was some fine acting ladies!
If I was a real theater critic I would give this production 4.5 out of 5 barns.
Folks, it's live theater, but you can take your popcorn, sodas, and junk food into your seat - definitely a no-no at the Lied Center.
Most productions are family oriented - However, the next musical is "The Producers" by Mel "Toilet Mouth" Brooks, and Mel writes ADULT themes - so in the words of Artistic Director Kevin Colbert "LEAVE THE KIDS AT HOME!!"
The talent is local and great! If you have an itch to perform in front of an appreciative audience or be part of an energetic production crew or build sets, etc.
"Tragedy is when I cut my finger - comedy is when you fall in an open sewer and die." - Mel Brooks. Now you see why you should "LEAVE THE KIDS AT HOME!"
