Sierra Umland of Alvo named to fall Deans' List / honor roll at Nebraska 


Sierra is the daughter of John & Deb Umland and the grand-daughter of Pat Umland.

Sierra was a 2018 graduate of Waverly High School

Sierra Umland of Alvo has been named to the Deans' List/Explore CenSierrList of Distinguished Students at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for the fall semester of the 2018-19 academic year.
Umland, a freshman elementary education and special education (K-6) major, was named to the Dean's List for the College of Education and Human Sciences.
More than 5,300 students at Nebraska have been named to the Deans' List for the fall semester.

Qualifications for the Deans' List varies among the eight undergraduate colleges. Listed below are the minimum requirements for each entity and the name of its respective dean or director. All qualifying grade-point averages are based on a four-point scale and a minimum of 12 graded semester hours. Students can be on the Deans' List for more than one college.
College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, 3.75; Dean Tiffany Heng-Moss.
College of Architecture, top 10 percent of the students in the college; Dean Katherine S. Ankerson.
College of Arts and Sciences, 3.7; Interim Dean Elizabeth Theiss-Morse.
College of Business, 3.6; Dean Kathy Farrell.
College of Education and Human Sciences, 3.75; Interim Dean Beth Doll.
College of Engineering, 3.5; Dean Lance C. Perez.
College of Journalism and Mass Communications, 3.7; Interim Dean Amy Struthers.
Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts, 3.7; Dean Charles O'Connor.
Explore Center for undeclared, pre-engineering, pre-health and pre-law students, 3.6; Senior Associate Vice Chancellor and Dean of Undergraduate Education Amy Goodburn.

Is N-63 Alvo North Project Progressing?

The construction started at the north edge of Alvo and continued north to Bluff Road, then from Bluff north to Church Road. Access to the Alvo Cemetery will be provided as needed for maintenance and funerals. Casey Wisness, of Knife River Construction is project manager. His phone number is 712-898-1787. During the construction, a temporary access road will be provided for the Alvo Cemetery.

The original anticipated completion of this project was November 2018. The updated completion will be in the summer of 2019. 

The Nebraska Department of Transportation project manager for this project is Jesse De Los Santos of Lincoln.  Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously through construction work zones.
